Take a look at the twill and thread colors we offer! The twill is the background the thread will be sewn onto to form your design. Keep in mind that with patches that have 100% embroidery, the twill backing will not be visible. In that case, the twill color will usually not make a difference.

With 50% or 75% embroidery, the twill forms the background of the design, and can be the most visible color, so make sure you choose the right one! NOTE: Please be aware that the color calibration of every computer monitor is different, so the displayed colors will vary per monitor. To achieve a 100% color match, please visit your local printing shop or public library and ask to view a Pantone color chart, then notify us of your desired Pantone color. This is the ONLY way to ensure a 100% color match.

Iron-On – Iron on backings offer an easy way to attach patches to nearly any type of material. Iron on patches can be attached using a standard home iron set at a temperature of 302 ºF for 6-8 seconds. Heat presses are not recommended to affix iron-on patches.

Velcro Backing – Our velcro backing features a high quality, hook & loop design resulting in superior fastening. Velcro backings come with both the hook side sewn to your patch and the soft side ready to be sewn onto your garment. Sizes up to 4.5″

Peel & Stick – A temporary backing intended for light use and non-permanent applications. Peel & Stick backings are often used for conventions or promotional events where the patches are a one-time use item.

PVC – The most common type of backing for embroidered patches. A PVC backing is a strengthening layer of plastic applied to the back of the patch which results in a more rigid patch that will be more resistant to bending and becoming wavy.

No Backing – The back of your patches will be exposed with no backing applied over the stitching. Patches with no backing are very flexible and lightweight.

We offer two types of borders for custom embroidered patches: Merrow, and Hot Cut. A Merrow border is referred to as a traditional border. It features a heavily stitched beveled appearance which is applied after the sewing of your patches. A Hot cut border is a thin border that is usually cut out in the shape of your design. Hot cut borders are more ideal for complex custom shapes, whereas merrow borders are more suited for basic shapes such as circles, ovals and squares. Please see the examples below for a detailed look at both Merrow and Hot Cut borders.

First, measure the height and width of the custom patch you want to create, then add the height and width measurements. Then, divide that total by two to find the actual patch size which will determine the pricing of your custom patch.

Use this patch to the left as an example. The height is 3.0” and the width is 2.0”, so we just add those together and get 5”. Now just divide by 2 and we get a 2.50” patch. We would price this patch out as 2.50”, but the dimensions would stay the same.

Add the length + width and divide by 2.
The patch is 3”x2”, so (3+2)= 5
5/2 = 2.5
The patch size is 2.50”
